Emergency Response Drill

Emergency Response Drill

Griggs County Central School District will be engaging in an emergency response drill today (Wednesday, May 25) throughout the afternoon. There will be emergency response vehicles at the school and in Cooperstown. This is a drill. Students are out for the summer but teachers and staff will be taking part in the drill today. This drill will be a lockdown drill for the school district and other county/area entities that would respond in these events will be involved.

This drill has been in the planning stages for many months dating back to the fall. We realize the timing is challenging for an emergency drill at a school but this has been planned and schedule for a very long time. The effort to get all of the entities involved to be available on the same day for this type of exercise is difficult and this will be a good learning experience on emergency preparedness for the district and other involved entities. This will help for emergency planning for the district moving into the next school year.

The funding for the drill was provided through a grant and Heartland Consulting out of Bismarck, ND are organizing the drill and doing the training for the district staff.
