Griggs County Central have been utilizing the new "East Shop" to demonstrate and practice automotive safety and service practices. High school students have been completing hands on assessments in proper vehicle lifting technique and safety along with car battery usage and jump starting. The new space has allowed the district to focus on automotive skills with students to prepare them for basic vehicle knowledge or advanced preparation for a career in the automotive field.
The High School Shop is still in use for wood working projects and other non-automotive projects including the Hydroponic Garden System Project that the district received a grant for to build wheel-chair accessible plant and garden tables for the Dakota Regional Medical Center patients.
Other community projects the district has been working on include repairing the GCC State Championship sign located south of highway 200 and painting the Garden Gazebo in Memorial Park.
Griggs County Central also received a grant from Miller Welding called the "Light a Spark Grant" valued at $14,700 to provide the district with welding machines, supplies, and safety equipment.
Thank you to community and individual partners that have been supporting the GCC Agriculture classes and FFA program!
