Instructors: Current and former Bismarck Public School electronics teachers
and Bismarck State College Lineworker Staff
Class size: Limited to 20 students
Housing: Swensen Hall on the Bismarck State College Campus
Food Service: Bismarck State College food services
Chaperoned: 24 hours
Student Cost: Travel to and from Bismarck
¼ to ½ elective high school credit via Bismarck Public Schools Career Academy
All hands-on instruction
OSHA 10-hour safety certification
WSI insurance
Course topics:
Using the math that you already know.
AC / DC Theory
Circuit Design, Pole Climbing, Powerline Fabrication, Equipment Simulators, Rigging, Safety, Troubleshooting, Component Identification, etc.
Working with: oscilloscopes, function generators, multi meters, impedance meters, AC/DC power supplies, power line apparatus, transformers, connections, substation and switchyard functions, line fuses, oil circuit reclosers, etc.
FULLY FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS
Class is open to all students, from any state, currently enrolled in high school.
Fully funded for housing, food service, 24-hour chaperon, etc., plus a job shadow experience, if available, when student returns home.
We welcome parents or sponsors to spend time in Bismarck observing class activities and participating in the electronics labs.
Students will be insured via WSI, will have OSHA 10 safety certification.

American Battle Monuments Foundation (ABMF) Essay Competition
The American Battle Monuments Foundation (ABMF) invites students aged 11-18 to participate in the "ABMF 2024 Past is Prologue Essay Contest." Students will compete within their age groups by submitting an original essay on historical events related to an American military cemetery or monument overseas, managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission.
Here are the essential details:
Age Groups: 11-12, 13-15, and 16-18
Topics: Historical events associated with American military cemeteries or monuments overseas
Deadline: Submit essays online at abmf.org by midnight (Mountain Time) on April 12, 2024
Prizes: Winners will be announced by September 24, 2024, Gold Star Mothers and Families Day
Participation in this contest provides students with an opportunity to honor the sacrifices of over 233,000 American service members buried or memorialized at ABMC sites. Additional information can be found on ABMF Essay Contest Website.



Central Plains Ag would like to invite the public to Griggs County Central on Friday, March 22 at 6:00pm (doors open at 5:30pm) for a presentation by Hunter Pinke. Cassidy's Ride is sponsoring presentations for Kindergarten through 7th grade at 9am and 8th through 12th grade at 10:30am. Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our Heart Healthy fundraising goal! 32 students registered, 14 completed Finn's Mission, and 18 families learned Hand-Only CPR. We raised $5,189.07 for the American Heart Association!! Great Job everyone!

Good Luck to the Titan Boys Basketball team on the final round of the District 4 Tournament today at 1:00pm at Larimore High School. The team will depart GCC at 11am.

Due to poor weather conditions and school closings, the final games of the District 4 Boys Basketball Tournament scheduled for today have been postponed to Wednesday, February 28th. The Titans will play in the first region qualifier game vs Warwick beginning at 1:00pm. Good Luck, Titans!!

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is hosting a three-day residential Youth Academy for young adults (16-19) July 30-August 1, 2024, at the Law Enforcement Academy in Bismarck. In addition to learning about the work of the NDHP, attendees will get hands-on training in firearms safety, defensive tactics, traffic stops, crash investigation, and train with the scenario simulator PLUS students will earn insurance reduction and CPR certification.

The 5th, 6th, and JH Band and Choir are participating in the Young Musicians Festival in Enderlin on Saturday, February 24.
Musicians should arrive at GCC at 6:45am and the bus will depart GCC at 7:10am.
Our first performance will be at 9:15am and our last will be at 1:33pm. We will leave shortly after last performance.
Remember to bring a lunch or money. Concessions will be available.
Dress in concert attire. White shirt and black bottoms or black dresses. We have a few men's white shirts and women's black dresses if needed.

Thank you to GCC Archery for putting on a great archery tournament at the school in Cooperstown. The event went well and it brought in students from all over the state to compete. There was great participation and success by our students and there were so many parent volunteers that made the weekend happen. It was a great couple days of archery! Thank you to everyone who gave up time to put on the tournament!
