Lake Region State College’s Nursing Programs
Lake Region offers:
Practical Nurse Program (PN) – 11month program, first year of the ADN program, upon completion they would be able to sit for the LPN NClex exam and work as an LPN
Associate Degree Nurse Program (ADN – 2yr RN) – two semesters after the Practical Nursing program and then be able to sit for their RN NClex exam – same skill set as a 4yr RN
General education courses that are great to take as dual credit if available in high school (they can take the listed courses while in the program, but if they have a chance to take a few it is very helpful)
ENGL 110 & 120 &/or COMM 110
BIOL 220, 221 & 202
PSYC 111 & 250
PHRM 215
Math 103 – they do not have to take Math 103, the student needs to test with the skill level of being able to go into Math 103 such as ACT Math = 21, Math Accuplacer = 255, or having taken ASC 093 – Algebra
Grade Point Average’s needed for the program:
CUM GPA = 2.5
NURS GPA = 2.75 (any of the general nursing courses listed above that are taken in advance)
LRSC Early Entry Course
LRSC has offered N120 to students outside of being in the nursing program. Students that are thinking about healthcare, this would be a great class to take. This course is an early entry – counts for college credit, but no high school credit.

LRSC offers the Nursing program in two different delivery styles that students can choose from.
Traditional face-to-face classroom – two days of theory courses and two days of lab/skill.
Not offered in Fargo or Jamestown.
Mobility style – theory is online and for the practical nursing, the students drive to campus once a week for their lab/skills. Mobility style is offered at all sites.

After-school activities including Elementary Boys Basketball and Girls Basketball practices are cancelled for tonight; however, after-school club will still be available. Reminder students should have coats, hats, gloves, snow pants, and boots on buses and for recess. If you are unable to afford these items please email rebecca.edland@k12.nd.us. Please use your own discretion when sending your students to school during inclement weather days. Contact the school office if roads become a factor for your student's attendance.

Stri-King Lanes in Hannaford invited youth ages 7 to 18 (as of 8/1/24) to join the Youth Bowling League.. League will begin on Sunday, Jan 5th and run to the end of March in shifts from 1-3pm. The 2024 North Dakota High School Coaches Association (NDHSCA) All-State 9-man Football Team has been named. Congratulation to Levi Kautzman for being named to the First Team Denfense and Cole Vincent for being named to the Second Team. The Elementary Boys Basketball Game against New Rockford tomorrow, November 19 has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict for New Rockford.

The Griggs County Central One Act competed at the Region 5 Competition at the Reiland Fine Arts Center at the University of Jamestown on Wednesday, November 13th. They received many high praises from the judges and were named Runner Up. Unfortunately, only 1st place from our region get to go to the state competition. Colten Walker and Isabelle Burnside received Honorable Mentions and Max Ludwig and Scarlett Ludwig received Superior Actor Awards.
This year's play is a one-act drama called Booby Trap by Ed Monk about an American soldier who is trapped against a stump by a land mine. While his fellow comrades try to figure out how to get him out of his situation, he reflects on scenes about his past and future. The main character, Sergeant Pete Galen, is played by senior Colten Walker and his past self is played by junior Max Ludwig. Other characters include Caitlyn (Isabelle Burnside), Major Harris & Mark (Joel Brown), Captain Gruss (Levi Moser), Tom & Young Pete (Paul Johnson), Cathy (Bella Dramstad), Lieutenant & Sister Anne (Scarlett Ludwig), Drill Instructor (Hayley Burnside), Caitlyn's Mom (Kenna Hook/Jaidynn Hays), Corporal & Pete's Mom (Ella Myers), Professor (Dalton Boll), Molly (Jaidynn Hays), Abby (Briley Monson), Stephanie (Audrey Eslinger), Lights (Will Larson), Director Amy Moser assisted by Dani Brown.
Be sure to come to the public performance on Tuesday, November 19th at 7:15pm and support these student's hard work. Admission is $5. Make it dinner and a show by attending the Sophomore Spaghetti Supper beforehand from 4:30-7pm.

ND Boy’s State

An exciting weeklong program that gives you firsthand experience running state government. Young men who have completed their junior year are invited to develop their talents and leadership skills, meet new people and experience campus life. Transportation is available if needed. One .50 credit for social studies can be earned by participation. Scholarship information available.
Students who apply for ND Boys State prior to the priority, deadline Friday, April 30, 2025, are eligible for one of three scholarships sponsored by North Dakota Boys State Inc. At the end of the week, the three scholarships ($250, $150, and $100) are presented to three randomly selected recipients. Scholarships are awarded for the students’ first fall semester. Scholarships are only eligible at North Dakota colleges and universities.
Samsung American Legion Scholarship: The Samsung corporation awards numerous scholarships to students who attend Boys and Girls state. For information regarding eligibility and application information, please visit http://www.legion.org/scholarships/samsung . The deadline for submission is arrival at ND Boys State registration.
